high quality Aug 22, 2010 bought these 5 years ago and just recently they have started to wear out a bit (meaning sometimes the quality craps out if the cord is in a certain position). Note that I took these everywhere from working riding or skating around and to use at DJ Gigs.
love the quality and the comfort and I will be buying a new pair soon.
Hard to complain Aug 14, 2010 I have had theses phones for 3 years now. I have a residency at a club and I play a lot of private events. Until recently they sat in my cable bag on top which rode in the back of my suburban. The sound is actually really good for the price. They block out outside noise real well. The highs never over power. The bass can get lost a little in the club setting but not that bad. Just now 3 years in the vinyl coating on the pads is flaking off. But I've read so many reviews about headphones breaking under what we djs consider normal use. Well, I'm here to say that these have been through hell. Constant use ,indoor outdoor gigs, sweat, dropped turned way to high up and not a single part is broken. I paid $50 for them and I'm gonna use them till they die...DJ Krystoph
Not spectacular but still very good Jul 05, 2010 Let me start off by saying that I'm not hugely experienced in the realm of headphones. I can really only tell big differences in sound quality, and I'm just starting to get the more subtle nuances of it - so take what I say with a grain of salt, because if you're a seasoned audiophile you will definitely see things differently than I do.
With that said, I think these headphones have pretty damn good sound quality. They're big and obviously meant for home use so I can't carry them around with my ipod (my constant companion...hehehe). They have superior sound quality to my Sony MDR-G45 around-the-heard style headphones, which is to be expected, even though the Sony's still sound pretty good to me. One thing I like about these headphones is the fact that my ears are enclosed and the drivers are held slightly away from the ears - this gives more of an "immersed" feel to the listener as opposed to having the sound inside your head like it is with my Sony's. I suppose this is a common quality to most stereo headphones like these.
I listen to primarily metal - Avenged Sevenfold, Lamb of God, Amon Amarth, and the like. With that said, I need lots of low end while maintaining clean highs. These headphones - to my inexperienced ears - are passable in the low-end category. With my ideal EQ settings on iTunes, they don't handle the amount of bass as well as I would like. When I turn the lowest two frequencies down a wee bit they seem to perform better but it varies from song to song (just because individual songs/artists are mixed differently). I'm not overly surprised or disappointed, though, because as far as headphones go these are very inexpensive and I would be a fool to expect AKG-like quality from them.
I will end by saying that for the price, these are some damn good headphones. Again, keep in mind that I'm not an experienced audiophile when it comes to headphones - I haven't tried hundreds of pairs so I can't attest to the higher or lower quality of too many other brands. All things considered, I might look into a higher quality pair once I have the money to spare. For the time being, these are perfectly fine.
Great sound May 31, 2010 I got these both a studio headphone to wear while podcasting, check out The Social Media Monster podcast, and to listen to music and other podcasts. They have great quality and tone. Some people have said they are a little big. Well then I must have a big head, because they fit me perfectly. I also love the thicker coiled cord. It is substantial and seem not near as likely to give in to wear and tear as the cord on my last set of headphones did.
So, great price, great sound, great quality. I couldn't be happier!
Great Value Apr 05, 2010 A great set of headphones and work perfectly for me and what I do. I awaken at times at 3 in the morning and to unwind I will turn on one of my amps and guitars, now I do so without waking the entire block :)
A good value for the small amount they cost
