| | Description | Long before there was a glimmer of an iPad, Auralex's® MoPADs were improving the sound of thousands of loudspeakers by "uncoupling" them from the surface they sit on. MoPADs (Monitor Isolation Pads) do for your monitors what a shock mount does for your microphone and the clever design lets you adjust your speakers to your perfect listening angle. You'll never truly hear your recording accurately without them. This is one of the simplest and least expensive upgrades you can make in your voiceover studio, instantly improving the accuracy of your monitoring system. Highly recommended and personally used by Harlan in his studio and home theater.
Includes four MoPADs to isolate two speakers. | |

Did wonders for bass response Dec 01, 2009
By J. Vetter
"Joe"
This is a quick review, but I thought I'd throw my two cents in.
I bought these pads with the intention of tightening up the bass response of my monitors. The difference was immediately noticeable. I first tested them on my glass desk just to get an idea of how much isolation was really taking place in a worst case scenario. I'll be honest, in my opinion the glass desk was still pretty unbearable.
Fortunately, I have speaker stands, and when used with the auralex pads, the bass sounded much more accurate with distinct separation. In addition, the tightening of the bass seemed to clean up the overall response of the monitors, effectively creating a sharper listening experience.
Initially, I was hesitant to spend roughly forty bucks on foam pads. After checking out some reassuring reviews and realizing that making my own would require more effort and research than I was willing to give, I decided to take the small risk. Overall, I'm happy with the purchase.
Also, the ability of the pads to isolate while tilting your monitors upwards or downwards is a welcome benefit.

Does what it's supposed to. Aug 15, 2008

My desk used to act as a low-frequency resonator, tainting my mixes and attracting dangerous spirits. Now it's like my monitors are floating above my desk. I no longer hear my desk playing my music, even with my ear to the surface!

Search for "Black yoga blocks" and save money Sep 10, 2012
By Nick W I've owned a pair of these before and they serve their purpose, but everybody knows these things are over priced for a couple pieces of foam. Try A/Bing them with a pair of black yoga blocks also available on Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/Milliard-Block-Beveled-Edges-Black/dp/B00994II5C/ They will do the same exact thing, and look just as good if not better for a lot less, and no one will know that you are using yoga blocks. They are made from very similar material. Don't say I never did you a favor. A pair of yoga blocks will also give you three different height options. They also come in cork for a few dollars more, which is kind of a cool look for your studio. Hugger Mugger Cork Yoga Block

Good Product. Priced on the high side. Mar 19, 2010
By J. Shepard The Auralex MOPAD Monitor Isolation Pads come with 8 pieces of foam. 2 pairs of bottom pieces and 2 pairs of thinner wedges to change the angle that the monitors sit. This is a good design in that they will accommodate a wide range of monitor sizes.
The MOPADs do a good job on 2 fronts. first, they isolate your monitors from the surface they are sitting on which helps tighten up their low end. Second, they give you the ability to change the tilt angle of the monitors so the tweeters are aimed directly at your ears.
These would easily rate a five star rating except for their price. It seems that about half of what they sell for would be right for a bunch of pieces of foam. That said, I still bought them and I'm glad I did.

Good, but not for studio Apr 18, 2009
By Rupert Grafendorfer The Pads help: but they don't isolate. You still have a lot of bass going straight into the desk. I have 2 KRK Rokit 5s on the pads and have my Mackie 824's really isolated. I bought them pads at guitar-center in Boston, not at amazon and I paid USD 30.--. The pads are nice, but way below studio quality.
