 Nice idea, horribly overpriced Dec 20, 2009
The product itself is a great idea and I have had one for quite some time that I made out of these cubes and some spare foam.
That being said, this item is about double the price of the components that you can buy yourself here on Amazon, just search for "Whitmor Cube" and "Acoustic foam". If you go with some cheaper foam that works well in an already relatively quiet room you can put this together for $35. The other advantage of the diy option is that you get multiple color choices (red, green, brown, etc) for the cube itself.

 Harlan Hogan Saved My Session Nov 12, 2009
Scripts approved. Talent booked. Studio sched---umm, the studio IS scheduled, right? It wasn't. This was Tuesday afternoon. The talent was arriving Saturday morning and I had no studio. I saw the Porta-Booth on Amazon and it seemed like it might do the trick. However I was afraid it wouldn't arrive in time. Before I purchased I thought I'd send an email to see if someone would get back to me to ensure me it would arrive in time. I didn't expect a response but in less than 30 minutes I had an email from Harlan Hogan. He thanked me for my interest in his product and told me that if I ordered by 4:00pm and selected the upgraded shipping it would indeed make it in time. I purchased. It arrived. It worked like a dream.

Great Solution for home recording May 13, 2009
Big thanks to Harlan for the wonderful product! I've been a VO talent for 8 years, but just listed myself on one the Voice websites in March to see if I could do some work from home. Over the past few months, I've submitted a bunch of auditions through the site with nary a bite.
I got the Porta-Booth on a Wednesday night and played around with it. On Thursday, I auditioned for a job on the site, booked it Friday morning, and by Friday evening, I'd recorded a website tour and the Porta-Booth was more than paid for!
It's incredible to have this solution in my home. It's always been my dream to get paid to do VOs in my basement, and the Porta-Booth has made that a reality.

Voiceover answer Feb 26, 2009
Just a note of thanks. I have received my Portabooth and I LOVE it. It is amazing that it blocks out so much ambient noise. I purchased the Blue Snowball microphone with it, plugged it into my computer and the quality and sound is amazing. Small house and no space to build a studio and now I don't have to.
I wanted to send my thanks to Harlan for such a useful and portable solution.

Great vocal audio quality Jun 30, 2008
I am an e-Learning developer. I banged my head against the wall for days trying to figure out a way to record professional quality audio outside a studio setting. I don't know how I found Harlan Hogan's Porta-Booth page, but I remember it was around 2am. I followed the directions Harlan described to create my own Porta-Booth, and my problems were solved. Now that you can get all the components together, it's even better.
Everyone that sees or uses the Porta-Booth has been blown away by the simplicity of Harlan's solution. What a fantastic product for the e-Learning community. Thank you!
