Pop filters should probably be called spit filters because in addition to keeping out those nasty "plosive" sounds like "T" , "K" , "P" etc. When recording voice overs or singing they also keep - well -spit off the microphone's expensive gold-sputtered capsule and as you can imagine, moisture and sensitive electronics don't play well together.
