Pop filters should probably be called spit filters because in addition to keeping out those nasty "plosive" sounds like....like "T" , "K" , "P" etc....when recording voice overs or singing they also keep - well -spit off the microphone's expensive gold-sputtered capsule and as you can imagine, moisture and sensitive electronics don't play well together. The Avantone Pro-Shield has an easily attached flexible mounting and the arch shaped curving design mirrors the grill shape of studio mics. The Pro-Shield doesn't sit out in front of the mic, instead it hugs the microphone like it was custom-made for it. Everybody needs to protect their hearing, especially singers, musicians and voice over performers. So you are wise to wear noise reducing headphones while flying or in other noisy environments. I always do, but my ridiculously expensive noise-reducing 'cans' were useless when it came time to record auditions and sessions on the road. That's because the noise-reduction circuitry couldn't be turned off and so they could not function as regular headphones. As you know, when we're recording in less than perfect acoustic locations - like hotel rooms - we NEED to hear the noise in the room so we can do our best to mitigate it, through microphone placement, software tools or a portable sound booth.
