It seems that the second most common question I'm asked is: "What the best microphone for voiceover?" (The first is: "How can I get an agent?"). It dawned on me that most studio microphones were designed for musicians and singers not word-workers. So with the help of MXL we designed a microphone specifically for voice-over. The VO: 1-A gets raves for it's sound and it's affordable price.

This is just the prettiest, sexiest pop filter I've ever seen and it really sets off your VO: 1-A. It's expensive but I suspect your worth it.

I've spent a big part of my life with headphones on and my list of dislikes was long: Heavy, cheesy vinyl ear pads, overt bass emphasis sound were just a few gripes. Do you really need a headphone hanger? Of course not. But then again headphones crashing to the floor almost always damages them.. Our hanger is powder-coated with a soft nylon tip that won't "gar up" your mic stand and it looks way more professional than any thing you'll find at the hardware store.

I really like metal pop filters. They last forever, are easy to clean and direct those plosives sounds downward away from your microphone. A good and inexpensive pop filter like this also saves your microphone from moisture - i.e spit - getting on it's sensitive diaphragm eventually degrading it's sound. IMO our Vox Pop Stop is cheap microphone insurance.

My personal MicPort Pro USB A/D converter Preamp has traveled hundreds or thousands of miles and is as good as the day I bought it. Instead of buying an "all-in-one" USB microphone (the equivalent of a "multi-purpose" printer) invest in a MicPort. Then you can use any studio microphone in the world.

If your budget or sonic needs are limited this A/D converter Preamp from MXL might be just the ticket especially if your recordings are mainly auditions. It's a way better solution than any of the USB mics available.

A shotgun microphone is great for voiceover work when an "in-your-face" sound is needed. The Sennheiser 416 is a perennial favorite and it's worth it's price. But the shock mounts available were meant for location recording and are too big and unnecessarily expensive for voice work. This small, lightweight, inexpensive mount is the perfect solution.

I don't think there is a more flexible desktop stand anywhere than this one. You can adjust the height of course but you can also change the weight of the stand. In addition it can connect to both European and USA microphone threads. A rock-solid accessory.
